Why choose The Browser AI
Designed for efficiency
local processing
All processing is completed in your browser, files are not uploaded to the server, and are private and safe.
Fast and efficient
There is no need to queue up the upload, and the processing time depends on the file size and current device performance.
unlimited free
There is no limit to the number of times you can use all tools, you can use them whenever you want, and there is no account threshold.
Safe and reliable
File processing is done locally in the browser and is not uploaded to the server.
Why choose browser-side file processing?
The Browser AI runs image compression, video compression, video conversion, trimming, audio extraction, video to GIF, frame capture, video muting, and audio transcription in your browser. After you select a file, your device reads and processes the media locally. You do not need to upload it to The Browser AI servers, install desktop software, or create an account.
Image compression uses browser-side image codecs; video tools run ffmpeg.wasm in a Web Worker; and audio transcription uses Transformers.js and Whisper. Some tools download required runtimes or models on first use, which your browser can usually reuse from cache later.
Local processing does not mean there are no limitations. File format support is determined by the browser, and processing speed depends on device performance and available memory. There is a limit of 30MB for images and 500MB for videos; keep original copies before working on important files and check the quality, formatting and recognition text after downloading.
What technologies are these tools based on?
The following first-hand project information illustrates the core technologies actually used on this site. The specific functions, formats and restrictions are subject to the information displayed on each tool page.
- JSquash — The browser-side WebAssembly image codec used for image compression.
- ffmpeg.wasm — Official FFmpeg project documentation for running FFmpeg in the browser.
- Transformers.js — Browser-side machine learning runtime library documentation used for converting audio to text.

| Comparison point | The Browser AI | Server-side tools |
|---|---|---|
| File handling | Reads files on the current device | Requires upload before processing |
| Privacy exposure | No original media sent to The Browser AI servers | Server receives the original media file |
| First-run setup | May download WebAssembly runtimes or speech models once | Usually waits for upload and backend queue time |

“Browser codecs from the Squoosh app.”
“A pure WebAssembly / JavaScript port of FFmpeg.”
“Run Transformers directly in your browser, with no need for a server.”
What else do you need to know before using it?
Will the file be uploaded to the server?
No. Image, video, and audio content are processed within the current browser. Some tools download FFmpeg Core, image codecs, or speech models over the Internet, but these requests do not include user files.
Why might the first processing be slower?
The WebAssembly program or model needs to be downloaded when running video compression and audio to text for the first time. The browser can then reuse the cache, but actual speed still depends on file size, device performance, and available memory.
What are the limitations of browser-side processing?
Processing power is affected by browser format support, device memory, and computing performance. Processing may fail for large files, corrupted files, or media that the browser cannot decode, please keep the original file and check the results after downloading.
